Cuisine: Italian

Nothing is subtle about La Casa: a vibrant swirl of colours, competing voices and evocative photos makes it feel like you’re dining at a favourite Italian uncle’s home. The patriarch of this family is Tony Ruggeri, a hugging, kissing veteran of the Sydney restaurant scene. Exquisite pasta dishes such as penne alla norma $19 or fettuccine con gamberi $23 whet our appetite for galletto siciliana (spatchcock) $26 and the full rack of Italian-style pork ribs $36. Perfectly wood-fired pizza comes with a dry, crisp base adorned with the most flavoursome ingredients. It’s noisy and the A/C struggles but this is your typical inner-west Italian dining experience. Book — every night’s a full house at La Casa.
