And one art dinner

August 2009

ucked away in a back lane in Chippendale you’ll find Mission Restaurant & Bar (3 Little Queen Street, Ph 9318 0815) and, above it, the NG Art Gallery. These two ventures are run jointly and combine to put on all sorts of fascinating art and food events under the general heading of Feasts for the Senses. Recently, for example, The Sydney Omega Ensemble played Peter Sculthorpe’s Dream Tracks and other pieces followed by a meal at Mission with Mr Sculthorpe in attendance. On August 25, Richard Morecroft will be in conversation with artists Bernard Ollis and Wendy Sharpe; $50 a head includes the conversation and a two-course meal with wine. Ollis’ work will be on exhibition upstairs in a show called Journeys Through Italy & Egypt. Some very interesting things are going on here, and damn fine food. Go to either or for details.
