Any predictions for the year will have to be cautiously gloomy. I’d expect a spate of closures, especially at the top end, and a general tightening of belts. I heard recently that we’re spending big on home entertainment systems, so maybe a move towards staying in and not going out could be bad for restaurants at all levels. But, on the other hand, maybe an “eat drink and be merry for tomorrow we’ll be broke, anyway” attitude might take hold of us. What do I know? Anyway, all the best to you from the Sydney Eats and teams in the year of the Ox.
